Who is Nedward?

I live in Car­roll Gar­dens, Brook­lyn, with my girl­friend Lisa and two cats named Katya and Mouse. “Ned­ward” is a nick­name that was given to me by friends, many years ago. I use it as a psue­donym for per­sonal blog­ging, both because I like it, and because “Nie­der­meyer” is a mouthful.

I design and build web sites for a living, and have exten­sive expe­ri­ence with CSS + XHTML, Flash, Blog­ging plat­forms, eLearn­ing, and Local­iza­tion. My pro­fes­sional work can be found at jnied.com.

Lisa and I are new New York­ers, having moved to Brook­lyn in the summer of 2007. Prior to the move, I lived in Boston and Cam­bridge for almost 11 years – attend­ing BU where I stud­ied His­tory (Russ­ian Intel­lec­tual was a favorite sub­ject), and worked for a couple of great companies.

Lisa and I are both orig­i­nally from Buf­falo, NY, and we have known each other since at least 1994. We have been together since Jan­u­ary of 1997.

This blog has been around, in one form or another, since July 2000. This latest design is based on a typo­graph­i­cal grid, with heavy use of Hel­vetica Neue. The side­bar con­tains con­tent pulled from my twit­ter, flickr, del.​icio.us, and last.fm, dis­tinct from the weblog content.
